HOW TO ENTER

To all of our underwater photographers. Thank you for your support, the talent is incredible and we have loved all of your images. At Aquatic Imaging Australia, we appreciate the added difficulty of shooting underwater and we would love to showcase your images. Please follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see all the monthly winners.

We encourage you to keep on shooting and pushing the limits. Please see below a summary of how to enter this free comp and the prizes for the Winter and Summer Champion!

Rules

  • Done on a monthly basis (January to December) and you can enter up to three images per month

  • Free to enter and open to anyone living in a permanent basis in Australia

  • Images can be from anywhere in the world, taken at any time

  • Any camera can be used, e.g. action camera, phone, compact, mirrorless or DSLR

  • All photos must have been taken meanwhile in the water (ocean, lake, river, cave, swimming pool, etc). Meaning, the photographer must have been physically in the water (over & under and surfing are allowed)

  • The photographer that enters the competition has to have taken the photo themselves, has to have the rights to the image and permission to depict whatever is in the image

  • No AI (artificial intelligence) allowed

  • Images need to be in a digital format

  • Editing is allowed but it’s not a photoshop competition. Winners will have to show proof of the RAW image

  • There will be three winning images per month, selected by our judges and these will be showcased in social media

  • The three winning images of every month (January to June) will compete to become the Winter Champion and the three winning images of every month (July to December) will compete to become the Summer champion

  • The final 18 images competing for the Winter or Summer champion will be asked to submit a RAW file of their monthly winning images for the final round of judging

  • Monthly judges are different to the Winter and Summer Champion judging panel

Not allowed

  • Images harassing animals or people or where the environment is being damaged

  • Drone or shot from a boat or shore with a pole

  • Divers present in the image demonstrating bad buoyancy skills

Submission

  • Send your images to info@aquaticimagingaustralia.com.au in a maximum size of 5MB and in JPG

  • When entering a specific month, the images need to be submitted within the month (e.g. if entering the month of January, images need to be submitted between Jan 1st and Jan 31st)

  • No watermarks allowed

  • You can enter up to three images per month and they can be sent at the same time or during the natural month.

  • Once the images are sent, there are no changes allowed

  • Please submit the image with your name, month and number on it, e.g. Jane Smith_Feburary1, Jane Smith_February2, Jane Smith_February3

Winners & Prizes*

  • There will be 3 winning images per month and this will be revealed between the 5th and the 10th of the following month, e.g. January’s winners will be revealed between the 5th and 10th of February.

  • There will be an overall winner in winter and an overall winner in summer. The images from January to June (18 in total) will be in the running to win the winter competition and the images from July to December (18 in total) will be in the running to win the summer competition.

  • The 3 winning images per month will be showcased in Aquatic Imaging Australia’s social media (Instagram and Facebook) and the winter and summer winner will receive:

    • Dive Volk SeaTouch 4 Max (Dynamic Black) or Kraken LTD 2500 video light

    • $50 AUD voucher to be used within the store- 6 month expiry date

    • Underwater photography workshop with Aquatic Imaging Australia taught by Vanessa Torres Macho- freediving or scuba diving options. This course needs to be booked within the advertised dates and within 6 months

    • There will be a Popular vote between the 18 images who will win a $50 voucher redeemable at Aquatic Imaging Australia.

  • Winter Champion will be revealed in July and Summer Champion will be revealed between January/February.

Rights

This image will always be rightfully yours and Aquatic Imaging Australia will only use it for the competition, in social media or the website and any other promotional instance. We will always ask permission if we want to use it in any other way.
