RED SEA SAFARI 2023

29th September - 6th October

Wrecks, Reefs and Pelagic Fish

Reefs, wrecks and pelagic animals! This September 2023 we’re bringing you a combination of some of the quintessential dive sites in the Red Sea. Vanessa and Rick had the pleasure of working and diving this exact liveaboard for a year and a half and have put together what they believe is a fantastic representation of what the best the Red Sea has to offer.

We will be visiting the most iconic wrecks and reefs, including the SS Thistlegorm, the reefs at Ras Mohammad National Park and the Brothers Islands located about 60 nautical miles offshore, for an opportunity to see a diverse array of marine species and large pelagic.

‘Famous Five’ Itinerary

Our trip starts in Hurghada’s beautiful marina to then sail to Gubal Island and to Abu Nuhas and its four well know wrecks: the Giannis D, Carnatic, the ‘Lentil Wreck’ and the ‘Tile Wreck’. The next visit will be to the Rosalie Moller wreck followed by a short ride across the Straits of Gubal to visit the most famous wreck in the Red Sea, the SS Thistlegorm, a WW II British Vessel discovered by Jacques Cousteau in the early 50s. The full cargo of armaments, Bedford trucks and BSA motorbikes is a sight not to be missed and excellent for the avid photographer.

Sailing will continue towards Ras Mohammad National Park where we will visit ‘Shark and Yolanda’ reefs, renowned for their colourful corals and booming fish life. Located at the southern end of the Sinai peninsula, this is the northern most destination on the itinerary before heading south towards the Brothers.

The Big and Little Brother Islands are the pinnacles of two undersea mountains rising from the depths of the abyss and belonging to the Marine Park Islands National Park. These islands offer stunning wall diving, covered in soft corals and gorgonian forests, big tuna, barracudas, jacks and snappers cruise in the blue, accompanied by occasional hammerheads, silky and oceanic white tip sharks and mantas. Even the rarer thresher shark can make an appearance and sightings of the grey reef shark are almost guaranteed. For the wreck diver, the Aida II, an Egyptian supply vessel, and the Numidia, a cargo ship, lie on the walls of the Big Brother, both covered in soft and hard corals.

Safaga will be our final destination to dive either at Panorama Reef or the infamous Salem Express wreck for an incredible finale and arrive safely back in Hurghada for an optional land extension.

For those wanting to visit Cairo and Luxor, we’re happy to include a 3 day/ 2 night trip to visit the Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Colossi of Memnon in Luxor, followed by a visit to the Pyramids, Sphinx & Old Egyptian museum in Cairo.
